Dorothy Russell
Textile Artist
I am a Textile artist
The Patchwork and Quilt textile art I exhibit is usually produced by painting, printing, piecing and quilting textiles. My work as a textile artist has gained me recognition and awards and some of this work can be seen on my Portfolio page. As an artist, I take inspiration from many sources, including the natural world, politics, news and history.
‘Textiles in Transition’ my exhibition of Textile Art, moved to Ucheldre Arts Centre
The exhibition ran from April 26th to May 29th 2017 in the gallery at Ucheldre, Holyhead. I had twenty one pieces displayed, one of which is shown above, so many thanks to Mike Gould for inviting me to show my work.

My exhibition of Textile Art -‘Textiles in Transition’ at Y Senedd in Cardiff
The solo exhibition ran from 27 March to 21 April 2017 in Y Senedd – The Assembly Building, Cardiff CF10 4PZ. My original sponsor was Alun Ffred Jones AM, following his visit to my 2015 exhibition at Oriel Ynys Mon, Anglesey. After his retirement from the Welsh Assembly, Rhun ap Iorwerth, the AM for Anglesey, became my sponsor and I am very grateful to them both.
Exhibitions in the cafe gallery at Y Senedd are open to the public where my comments and Visitors book showed many international, as well as Brits, visiting Y Senedd. The exhibition included the four textile pieces below; a series of hangings based on studies of a wooded landscape.
